K.I.T.T.
I've been thinking about getting a new car for a while and knowing me and making big decisions, I will be thinking about it for a long time before I make up my mind. I'm probably gonna get a car with a navigation system built in which means that the car will have a voice and be able to talk to me. Just recently I was talking to someone and the subject of Knight Rider came up and it got me thinking, why can't I have my navigation system talk to me in KITT's voice from the tv show. It's a super lame idea but I thought I would explore it a little bit.
In my searching, I ran into MIO's Knight Rider GPS. I couldn't believe it existed. It's a portable GPS with a Knight Rider design. It has the scrolling red LEDs that KITT was famous for and uses the same voice from the actor that played the voice of KITT in the 80s tv show. The sides of the GPS are designed to look like the front of KITT. When you start up the GPS it says a "cool" little phrase in the KITT voice like "Michael, where would you like to go today?".
This would be a cool toy for about 5 minutes before it becomes totally annoying. I like retro stuff that reminds me of my childhood but, seriously, this is way too much. If my car kept talking to me in that voice, I would probably smash it. The video that I found on youtube that describes it amazes me. Not only did someone bother to record a review, edit it and post it on youtube but he has a website dedicated to Knight Rider and Knight Rider related news. This takes geekiness to a whole new level. I thought that I was kinda geeky until I saw this. This guy has a little too much time on his hands.
In the related videos on youtube there was a TomTom GPS that uses Mr. T's voice that I had known about but had never seen or heard yet. I guess I can scratch that experience off my list.
