Preparing for Travel
I hate preparing to travel. I always think that I will forget something. I hate having to plan everything out. The whole process is so nerve racking, it makes taking a vacation not as pleasurable an experience as it should be.
I have to pack and plan what I will need to wear. I have to check the weather in the area that I am going to in order to know what I should be wearing. I have to pack all my essential items, like toothbrush and contact lens solution and I know I will forget at least one of those items. Then I have to make sure all my electronics are ready to go. I have to bring my camera of course, and laptop. Gotta make sure I have my travel charger for my phone and charge the batteries on all of them. I doubt I will get a power outlet on the plane.
Don't get me started on the plane. They make you rush and arrive early for your flight. They prod and poke you and make you nearly strip naked as you go through security only to make you sit at the gate forever before you can board the plane. Once they let you board the plane, everyone has to file in through the same door. I know there is more than one door on the plane. The flight attendant makes sure to tell me about it just before take off. Are they only for emergency use? I am sure that if they opened all the doors and let people on through all 6 doors instead of one, we would get on 6 times as fast. Come on! Is this really that hard a thing to implement?
Why is it that I am not allowed to print my boarding pass until 24 hours before the flight? If I already paid for my ticket and booked my seat, does it really matter if I print my boarding pass 3 weeks before or 3 hours before my flight leaves? I am old enough to remember when flying was a pleasure. When you were treated as a special person why you flew. Now, you have to pay an exorbitant fee to fly first class to get that same sort of treatment. Nowadays, people are treated like cattle when we fly. The only difference between an airline and a Greyhound bus line is that the plane has wings.
I am sure there will be more rants about this topic as I am about to head out on my vacation tomorrow morning.
