Day 6: Cococay, Bahamas
On the next day, we arrived at Coco Cay, Bahamas. This is a private island owned by Royal Caribbean. The ship drops anchor a little way out from the island and a smaller boat loads up the passengers and takes us out to the island. It was really windy that day and kind of put a damper on the day. We were set to do some snorkeling but the wind made the water really choppy so I was afraid it might ruin things for us. We got on the island and checked out the small shopping area then made our way to the beach. We laid out for a while then went over to the snorkel shack to get our equipment and have our orientation. We headed out into the water and found that it was a bit colder than I was hoping for but I quickly adjusted to the water temp. Now was the time to use the waterproof camera case. At first, I totally sucked with it. I was taking pictures of nothing. The choppiness of the waves made it really hard to take pictures. I would hold the camera and frame my picture perfectly then a wave will come in and make me move and I would lose my photo. Despite the problems, I managed to get some decent photos. While I was messing with the camera, my wife managed to ditch me completely. We were in the water for about an hour and a half till we got tired of it and headed back to the beach.
We cleaned up and the cruise line had a barbeque set up for all of the passengers. I ate a hot dog and burger. There wasn't too much for my vegetarian wife to eat. We went for a little walk around the island and found the nature walk trail. We found some hermit crabs and some small lizards. As we reached the end of the trail, we found some iguanas. My wife did some last minute shopping but didn't find anything worth buying so we headed back to the boat.
By dinner time, we went over to the dining hall and found that there wasn't much of a vegetarian selection there so we decided to eat at the Windjammer cafe instead. I knew that by the end of this trip, I was going to be at least 5 pound heavier. I ate way more than I should have. We spent the rest of the night exploring around the ship and hitting the arcade for a little while. Next port, Key West, FL.
