This Sunday, I was home alone. My wife was visiting her family in Monterey and no one likes me so I spent pretty much the entire day at home watching football. Outside of the Niners coming up with a big win over the Jets, it was a pretty boring set of football games. The most boring part of the games has to be the extra point that they kick after a touchdown. It's totally useless. When was the last time I saw someone miss an extra point. It's such an easy kick, that I can probably kick it through about 90% of the time. The hardest part of the extra point has to be the snap of the ball and the hold and even that isn't that hard for people that practice it on a regular basis. To add to the useless of the extra point is the fact that it's only worth 1 point.

I'm going with the Obama slogan and saying that it's time for change. The extra point needs to be killed off. Make each touchdown worth 7 points and forget the extra point entirely. To make things even more interesting, allow teams the option of going for 2 by scoring the equivalent of a touch down from the 2 yard line and if they don't make it, they forego the automatic extra point that was given to them for the original touchdown.
