Don't Freak Out! - Part #2

Last night I was volunteering at the festival at my church and the internet went down and everyone freaked out. Apparently they need an internet connection to accept credit card transactions. Everyone looks at me to fix it. I walk over to the closet that the modem and wireless access point are connected to and find that the whole thing is turned off. Coming out of the same electrical panel is a cord that runs over to a giant oven that they are using to make bread. I'm no electrician but think I know what the problem is. Someone resets the circuit breaker and everything is back up and running. Until the oven trips the circuit breaker again in another 10 minutes.

Now everyone is all up in my face bugging me about the internet. I end up having about 6 people come to me to let me know that the internet isn't working. At the same time, I am being asked to edit photos for the photo booth. The photo takes priority so after about 20 minutes, I finish the photo and check on the internet. Someone else had tried to fix it and determined that "the modem is fried". Everyone is freaking out at this point. "We don't have internet!" It's the end of the world. I decide to take a look at this "fried modem". It's sitting on the floor with the power adapter and the power adapter for the wireless access point. I notice right away that the power adapter for the wireless access point is plugged into the modem and the modem power adapter is sitting on the ground unplugged. Again, I am no electrician but I think I know what the problem is. I take the modem and the correct power adapter and plug it in the nearest outlet and it fires up right away. We end up running the power cables through the windows next to the closet that has the phone line and like magic, we have internet connection again.

Please don't freak out!!!
