Chicago Style VS New York Style Pizza
I like all kinds of pizza but there is a debate that has been raging for as long as I can remember as to which style of pizza is best, Chicago Deep Dish or New York Thin Crust. For me personally, I won't reject either style of pizza as long as it isn't some California Pizza Kitchen avocado and mayonnaise crap. But my preference is always going to be the deep dish Chicago pizza.
The New York pizza people will say that the pizza is about the toppings and not about the bread. That deep dish pizza is all just crust and no substance. I will agree with them to a certain degree that the pizza is about the toppings but bread and crust is nearly as important. It's like getting a soup in a bread bowl. You are really there for the soup but the bread bowl adds so much more too it. With a deep dish pizza, you get the best of both. You get the bread and crust and you get a ton of area to contain your pizza's toppings. One of the most desired New York pizza places in the area is Amici's pizza. While I won't totally reject an Amici's pizza, it isn't quite up to snuff.
One of my favorite places to get a Chicago style pizza is Zachary's pizza. I always get the deep dish pizza even though they have regular pizza as well. The deep dish is so thick that you have to eat it with a fork and knife and it's covered with plenty of toppings. I don't think I will ever turn down an opportunity to go there. Unfortunately, not everyone agrees with me in regards to Zachary's. One of my friends dared to say, "I been there couple of times and honestly I would rather eat Costco pizza, it isn't that good". I think that in just about any court of law in the United States, saying something like that is grounds for immediate execution.
Look at these 2 pizza's and tell me which one you would rather eat.
